This year, Wardrobe Therapy is giving out 3 Red Carpet Awards for the Met Gala. Our awards go to, Blake Lively, Dakota Johnson, and Liu Wen (seen on our FB page here - http://tinyurl.com/k4h5cfp).
NY fashion designer and creator of Wardrobe Therapy, Kelima, who has attended some of the Met Galas, says that the dresses often look very different in reality than in photographs.
For an event like this, you need to be careful of getting lost in a sea of gowns. Statement dresses with great architecture usually work well. But it's equally important that the dress is flattering. Sometimes, a client is mesmerized by the beauty of a gown, which isn't so flattering in photos. In other cases, the dress can look good on you, but still be a complete fail in photos, especially with the backdrop of the red carpet.- Kelima
Getting this right is a balance that takes experience and expertise to perfect. Studying this is part of the Wardrobe Therapy training we are now enrolled in. Dressing for the red carpet was our class lesson this week. Lucky us!
For a flawless red carpet entrance, Kelima recommends hiring an experienced stylist who knows these type of events, as well as couture dresses, from the inside out.
We feel fortunate, as part of the top level Wardrobe Therapy training program, to attend our first NY gala, as Kelima's guest last week! It felt like we had stepped into an episode of Revenge, or Gossip Girl! We will try to post more on that soon.
